Intro to AP Biology
Biology, the study of life, is a science for adventurous minds; it leads us into laboratories to examine closely how living things work.

The hierarchy of biological organization starting from at the lowest level, atoms, are ordered into complex biological molecules (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids).
Cellular Biology
Cells are organism's basic units of structure and function.The two main types of cells are prokaryotes & eukaryotes.
Energy Systems

Cells harvest chemical energy stored in organic molecules & use it to regenerate ATP, energy that drives cellular work.
The continuity of life depends on the inheritance of biological information in the form of DNA moecules.

The Darwinian theory of natural selection accounts for adaption of populations to their environment through reproductive success.

Classification & Biol. Diversity
A classification system formulated by Carolus Linnaeus arranges the diversity of life into a hierarachy pattern.

Nervous, Endocrine, Reproductive, Skeletal/Muscular Systems.
Plants are the pillars of most terrestrial ecosystems. Their photosynthesis supports their own growth & maintenance, & it feeds an ecosystem's consumers.

Like all organisms, we interact with our environment. Organisms and their environment are interdependent.
